- The group of Hong Zhang is one of the leading groups of bio-functionalized upcovnersion nanomaterials in the world as it specialises in synthesis, bio-functionalization and physics of upconversion materials aiming at nanoplatforms for image-guided therapy of cancer. Zhang is also guest prof at Chinese Academy of Sciences (Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics) and chair prof at Northeast Normal University.
Key facilities and infrastructure
- Synthesis facilities for nanoparticle preparation, surface functionalization and sophisticated state-of-the-art steady-state and time-resolved (down to femtosecond resolution) and spatially resolved spectroscopic setups with detection temperature reaching as low as 10K, including UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Fluorosens, femtosecond and nanosecond transient absorption setups, time-correlated single photon counting emission detection setups with picosecond and nanosecond time resolution, confocal microscope, et al.
- Group members of diverse backgrounds from physics, chemistry to biology stimulate multidisciplinary discussion, which is one of the unique advantages of our group for Early-Stage Researchers.
